If you already have a MS-SQL Server around doing something else and can load your new app's database into it, it will make your life easier. I agree with Scott that your app doesn't look very big, and Pervasive will probably be fine. If you see a lot of growth in the near future, MS-SQL will probably scale better. Most Perviasive based apps I've seen just sit on one Server with a small number of users, but that's just my experience. If you do choose an MS-SQL based app, try to find out if SQL transactions are handled by a middleware service as opposed to a SQL client on every desktop. Your TCO with Pervasive will probably be lower. That's probably the major reason a vendor might choose Pervasive. If an MS-SQL based app requires a SQL Client at every desk, that will get very expensive in a hurry. But, Pervasive has been around a long, long time and a lot of vertical market systems use it, so that must say something for it's suitability. Sorry, but I don't have any familiarity with that app. ![]()
